Big wall gear (for the uninitiated).  This was our Sea of Dreams rack, but it gives a good idea of the sort of pile that went up Wings of Steel.

Note the "Bolt Master" t-shirt.  In the face of the slander and controversy, Mark and I adopted a defiant attitude.  Named by our (many) critics, "The Mad Bolters," we had shirts made up like this one: "Bolt Master" on the front, and "Drill First, Think Later" on the back.  Another version had, "Mad Bolter" on the front, and "Wings of Steel" on the back. WE knew the route was not a bolt/rivet ladder, despite decades of lies about it.
