| Wings of Steel
By the time this shot was taken, we had fixed ropes from the second anchor to the fifth anchor, spent a day moving camp up to the fifth anchor, and set up our new bivy. In this shot, Mark is leading the sixth pitch, which starts up a really steep, very blank headwall. One of the more difficult pitches on the route, Mark worked out a brilliant and intricate series of micro-hook moves, placing only one bolt in about sixty feet of TINY hooking. The fall would have been right into the bivy (and onto me, looking up), so it is very fortunate that Mark took no falls in this section.
